PVP K15 can dissolve in water and most organic solvents. For this reasons, PVP has been widely used in drug tablets, especially in foreign countries, the use of PVP for tablet adhesive. For example: compound sulfamethoxazole, aspirin, compound aspirin, acetaminophen, vitamin c, dipyridamole, dimethyl tetracycline, clonidine, benzenesulfonamide, compound analgesic, chewable tablets.
The raising of insoluble drugs’ solubility in the human body also relatively increases the drug bioavailability, such as the coprecipitation of phenytoin and PVP increases 1.55 times the bioavailability. After coprecipitation, the solubility of insoluble drugs increase with the number of PVP molecular weight and the dosage of PVP. When using the same dosage of PVP (mass), the drug solubility increased in the order of PVP k15> PVP k30> PVP k90, for the solubilization of PVPitself according to PVP k15> PVP k30> PVP k90 order change, PVP K15 is used more in general.
